Just realized that prices have come down to around $70K, I honestly cannot think of a better performance bargain right now.

Well ya know, GM has hurt resale values with this ignition problem *Sarcasm*

C5 Zo6.
0-60: 4 seconds flat.
Upgraded suspension, bigger brakes, titanium exhaust. 405 hp.
Can be had at $25,000 with low miles.

When C6 Z06 is regularly 25k and ZR1 is 50k it will be harder to call but right now pocket the 35k and buy a supercharger or turbo if you must and spend the rest on shocks, brakes, tires and track days.

GT500. Brand new, more power, and a warranty.

But that being said, I would probably rather have the ZR1.

Wow had no idea the Z06 had come down so much as well.

I've autocrossed with a guy who bought one for around 25k and I've seen them at that price on e-bay too.

Is the GT500 actually faster (sighting the 450lb weight difference here)? I think I'd also take the 'vette, especially since many of them are still covered by warranty.

I'd prefer a $35-$40k C6 Z06.
For $70k though, I'll take a 997 GT3.

handles like ass.

That's all well and good as long as you don't care about this little thing called handling .

How do you fuck up an ad that bad?

That's just you man. Looks fine in chrome over here.

I am sure it doesn't handle as well as the ZR1, but having recently driven the GT500 (with the adjustable dampers), I would say ass is a bit strong. It's no Cayman, but it was infinitely better than the Mustang GT.

Our opinions are opposite, then. I thought the GT500 did not handle well at all. And the GT has much better weight balance.

It may just be that my expectations were so low going in. I was assuming it would handle terribly.
I was also not driving it at the limit as I was on public roads. So my opinion could very well change on a track.

I think you're probably right. Nothing can match the power, tech and performance of the ZR1 at anywhere near the price. The steering leaves a little to be desired but overall the car is a rocket. Z06 and GT500 come close in value but miss out on a few things that make the ZR1 a true exotic.

Yess, the C6 Z06 is such a performance bargain right now its unbelievable

For that money I would either mod a Z06 if I needed a corvette, or just buy a CLK63 Black Series.
